Anyway, I "quit" smoking, but I will still smoke a few when I drink. I don't drink too often, so it's not a big deal. I have taken the attitude that cigs are a recreational drug, and I am not going to use them for anything else. I know this would not work for a lot of people, but I have a lot of willpower and it works for me.

I set a date to quit. That made it easier to take action. Also, take the money you would have spent on smokes, and put every cent of it in a bank, a jar, wherever, just save it. Make it a goal to use that money for a trip or something else after a year. Do the math, a pack a day @ $3 each, for a year = $1095. I have bought maybe 10 packs the last year for my drinking nights (of which I smoke about 5 cigs a night, I give the rest away to someone at work), I still saved over a grand, and I am paying for most of my vacation this year with it.
