no not cloves. i remember those nasty things from high school.
these are the ones he smokes. im 99% sure. but after reviewing a description on a website, they dont seem like anything particularly special. i think he puts crack in them.

All this talk of cold turkey got me wondering about its origins. It could have been spiced ham or something like that. Well here is the answer:

Some say it's because heroin addicts undergoing withdrawal are so pale and covered with goose bumps their skin looks like that of an uncooked turkey. As with most good stories, however, this appears to be crapola. "Cold turkey," which dates from 1916, is related to "talk turkey," meaning to cut the comedy and talk frankly. Similarly, when you go cold turkey, you dispense with the preliminaries and get right down to it. Why turkey rather than crested titmouse, say, is not clear, but perhaps it was because the turkey, as your standard U.S. game fowl, recalled the no-bull simplicity of frontier life.

Ah, those indians.

I've had those before. They're nothing special at all. That "not addictive" stuff they try pushing has got to be BS.

Zyban worked for me. I smoked for twenty plus years and this stuff killed my cravings completely. I was on the pill for two weeks before and 30 days after I stopped smoking. It's been 15 months now. Plus if you're having depression issues Zyban(Welbutrin) will help with that too!

I quit 3 times before I succeeded. I used the patch. It worked good for me the first time, but I started again. Second time was a 1/2 assed attempt. Third time I used the patches again and was determined to stop. Will power is 99% of it.

Now since I officially quit about 4 years ago I've probably had 1 1/2 pack total. It seems when I drink with my buddy I crave one soooo bad. And it's the most rewarding feeling having a cigarette after not having one for months. However, that feeling & buzz pass quickly and then you want another and BAM! you're right back. The best idea is just not to have one when you quit. The urge will subside shortly and you'll be so happy you didn't subcumb!

You will never loose the craving totally. You'll always remember the calm feeling you get when you smoke. Like after a big meal. However it's very slight and not often. I rarely ever think of smoking anymore. And when I do I just wait it out and it's gone.

Consider that when you quit your body begins healing immediately. It's nothing but good for you to quit. And quit for good. Those one or two ciggies now and then are actually quite a shock to your system and can have some pretty harmful effects themselves...

I wish I had all the $$ I spent buy smokes now. I'd be pretty darn happy with that load of cash!

I just quit smoking 3 months ago. I tried the patch for 2 days and then just quit after that. What helped me was every morning when i had a craving was i cleaned the house, everytime i had a craving i did something with my hands. Keep myself busy all day is what got me to quit. Now whenever someone lights up next to me or around me it drives me crazy cause i can't stand it.

hope it helps

Hey guys thanks for the tips. I wrote that post last night when I was pretty upset about something else. While most of that post is true, I don't really hate myself for starting, I just hate the fact that I did. Between my guitars, my xbox, and my weights I'm sure I have enough things that I could do when I get a craving at home. But what about when I'm not at home? What did you do to keep yourself busy when you're in the car? I'm afraid that is the spot that would get me as I am usually in the car for about 2 1/2 hours daily. Thanks again.

Get yourself a good can of chew, like Kodiak. Or start off with something easy to manage, such as Skoal Pouches.

LOL, tell the guy to UP his dose of nicotine,

Anyway, I "quit" smoking, but I will still smoke a few when I drink. I don't drink too often, so it's not a big deal. I have taken the attitude that cigs are a recreational drug, and I am not going to use them for anything else. I know this would not work for a lot of people, but I have a lot of willpower and it works for me.

I set a date to quit. That made it easier to take action. Also, take the money you would have spent on smokes, and put every cent of it in a bank, a jar, wherever, just save it. Make it a goal to use that money for a trip or something else after a year. Do the math, a pack a day @ $3 each, for a year = $1095. I have bought maybe 10 packs the last year for my drinking nights (of which I smoke about 5 cigs a night, I give the rest away to someone at work), I still saved over a grand, and I am paying for most of my vacation this year with it.
