Dude SORRY my MY Zetec runs 16's.... even in BAD track conditions. I ran a 16.858 last sat slipping off the line all day nobody was getting traction. and I bet if I could of gripped off the line it would of been atleast a 16.5 or better and I have less than $400 invested in performance parts... a few more things under the hood and I could break into the 15's and when I get terry's turbo well... we will see how SLOW a Zetec is... laugh

and back to the subject at hand... beaten beatles (nonturboed), neons, Focus, auto V6 mustang,
beaten by, MTX V6 contour (modded), WS6 formula, BMW 5 series (not sure what model not M)

Champagne 96 GL MTX some mods
dynoed at 114.2whp and 124.4wtq (pre CTA intake)
16.858 @ 80.76mph (yes it's slow but still faster than D Davis)

Hey guys, I am not surprised that you have so many problems with your cars, particularly with the trannies. laugh

CSVTs are sport sedans, they are not built for the race track. F1 cars are designed to go at 350 km/h and more with huge accelerations but their engines, suspensions and trannies are not meant to live beyond 1000 km. wink

I beat a Tempo once cool

I also beat a Porsche once down a 1/4 mile stretch of road, but I think he stopped trying after about 70mph. So did I really beat him if he didn't try? smile

FlAwEdLoGiC: it's all a relative comparison in those classes. I take a slow car (my Contour) and hop it up and compare it to other slow cars that are hopped up. I'll then take a fast car (my Vette) and hop it up and then compare it to other fast cars that have been hopped up.

Keeping cars in their respective classes, hopping it up to make it faster than your competition requires the same effort/skill/tech expertise to keep it on top. Example: Taking two vipers and modding each one to try to make it faster than the other is just as difficult as taking two contours and making one faster than the other.

Notice the line in my sig... "How fast do you want to go?" That's a lot of it in ANY class of racing.

As for an "already fast car" taking the fun out of it, they are both fun to hop up, and each is just as expensive!

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.
You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.
How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have?

Keep in mind that streetracing will get a thread locked. Keep it on the racetrack. Racing is dangerous enough for the participants, we don't need to spread the risk to someone who is not involved.
