They didn't total it. It needed to be $4127 to total. I was $125 short. If the totalled it, I would of received $ 4658 ($5158-$500 deductable).
However, the $3500 I did get was better spent on a newer vehicle. I use the car for work, I cover NJ, NY, PA, WV primarily and most of the East coast as a backup for others in my group. The Contour was due to be replaced at the end of this year anyway. I alway replace my cars when the get around 100k. I need reliability. Even if the repairs are economical, it is rough being stuck 500 miles from home and sometimes in the middle of nowhere.
With 90k on it now and about 115k on it by the years end, I would never have received $3500 when I sold it. It made more sense to keep the $3500 and run.
I do like the car though. If I could of purchased a 2002 or 2003 contour, I might of considered it. I was looking at Taurus and Sable as well as Ranger, Frontier, and the Mazdas. Since time was a problem, if I didn't find the pick-up I wanted, I would of bought a Tuarus/Sable. I only looked at the ones with the Duratec but I still would a preferred a newer Contour. The Taurus/Sable are O.K. but they are bland!
My name is Richard. I was a Contouraholic.
