I rarely ever see an educated individual with common sense or the ability to make friends. I mysef don't seem to understand why it is. Most doctors are the most boring people in the world. However, my allergist plays bass in a classic rock + roll band on the weekends. He has themed rock rooms in his office, and he is never quiet. He's a great, intelligent guy.
Most college proffesors are the same way. However, they are usually sarcastic. It seems that intelligence breeds sarcrasm. Well, if that's the case, I don't want to be "intelligent". I don't have the time or care to be around people who are gloomy and complaining about this or that.
I unfortuntely am not surprised that things like this happen. A kid is still a kid, no matter his IQ level or special abilities. Ignoring him as a parent and letting him go free is a very dangerous idea. You are not holding him back at all if you try to parent. He needs to learn real life lessons before he can be allowed to go out in the world. I am sure there is something that happened to him (Threat?) that caused him to kill himself. We will not know, and because his parents never talk to him, they will not know either. School does not teach life lessons such as dealing with other people. The boy did what many people he read about in history class did. That is...they killed themselves. It's sad that he could not control his mind, and it's more sad nobody was there to help him.
