I think it is human need to feel acceptance. And when you are a 10 year old who finishes high school and moves through college, where do you fit into the grand scheme of things? His mind was cultivated for the arts, yet he was never subjected to the real-world. At the age where most kids are in fourth grade, he was graduating high school and moving on to college. He was among a crowd that is starting to enter the adult-world, where he hadn't even hit puberty yet... I may be making a few assumptions here, but it just seems that anyone in that situation should not be pscyhological sound. What are your guys opinions. (BTW, that gun crack, that was horrible... )

nobody is perfect, maybe his "superior" intellect was flawed in that he couldn't handle emotional strains/stress.

That's sad. Major props to his parents donating his organs. I think there's a fine line between genius and insanity. Depression is a close cousin of genius, too.

When I saw the title of this post, the first thing that came to mind was something happened to svtProdigy. It's sad though, no matter who it is.

I rarely ever see an educated individual with common sense or the ability to make friends. I mysef don't seem to understand why it is. Most doctors are the most boring people in the world. However, my allergist plays bass in a classic rock + roll band on the weekends. He has themed rock rooms in his office, and he is never quiet. He's a great, intelligent guy.
Most college proffesors are the same way. However, they are usually sarcastic. It seems that intelligence breeds sarcrasm. Well, if that's the case, I don't want to be "intelligent". I don't have the time or care to be around people who are gloomy and complaining about this or that.
I unfortuntely am not surprised that things like this happen. A kid is still a kid, no matter his IQ level or special abilities. Ignoring him as a parent and letting him go free is a very dangerous idea. You are not holding him back at all if you try to parent. He needs to learn real life lessons before he can be allowed to go out in the world. I am sure there is something that happened to him (Threat?) that caused him to kill himself. We will not know, and because his parents never talk to him, they will not know either. School does not teach life lessons such as dealing with other people. The boy did what many people he read about in history class did. That is...they killed themselves. It's sad that he could not control his mind, and it's more sad nobody was there to help him.

The kid finished making his second CD on the day of his death. The family was going to keep it private but luckily, due to overwhelming popular demand, you can now purchase this very CD on the family's website: http://www.windcallenterprises.com/The mom is not doing this for profit, mind you, but only because that's what the kid would have wanted.

I have no pity for people who are selfish enough to take their own lives. It is purely a selfish act, and neglect to think of the people they leave behind and hurt. I don't care if it was a child prodigy, and could have been an extraordinary individual. You don't hurt the ones you love for your own reasons.
