You know, DemonSVT, that's one of the things that's always had me thinking before I bought an "open element" air filter setup...
Why, if it is possible, hasn't anyone simply Dremeled open the fender hole and replace the boot with a little bit of rubber or PVC? Couldn't you also cut some venting into the factory airbox? I mean, the factory airbox isn't so much a restriction that a little modification isn't going to solve that problem... and the stock airbox will obviously act as a more effective heat shield than a 4mm thick sheet of aluminum...
