I see where you got called on the carpet when you unwisely championed the "money" theory, but I'm not seeing where you were insulted...

Anyway, I think it's a damn shame that this has been carried out so far as to have politicians create a stand (one way or the other) on this issue. It's obvious that there's a case to be made both ways on who has this woman's best interests in mind, but since the husband has turned down MASSIVE amounts of money to keep her alive, it surely seems that he is more intent in carrying out her wishes over those of her parents.

I also find it interesting that every time this has been brought up for judicial review that it ended up in favor of allowing her life to terminate. What was the number (memory is foggy on this one)? 7 trials and ALL with the same outcome???

I can't imagine anyone WANTING and STATING that they would prefer to be kept alive indefinitely just to live out their remaining life as a somewhat intelligent potato. It sounds like her parents are hanging onto a 1 in a billion chance that she will have anything that resembles a halfway normal life out of their emotional greed. I wouldn't want to bury my child, either, but there comes a time when one needs to let go...

The double-edge sword of medicine and technology rears it's ugly head yet again; quality of life and quantity of life are in the balance and just because we as an advanced society have the ability to keep someone alive in some sort of semi-conscious state, it doesn't mean we neccesarily SHOULD.

What a mess.
