I don't see any difference between that and letting her waste away over the course of 2 weeks. Unless I missed part of the story it's not like she's going to come out of the coma and regain her mental capacity in that period.

It is a shame. We allow our beloved pets to rest in peace without additional suffering where we don't for our beloved humans.

Removing the feeding tube allows her to die on her own. Giving her a lethal injection is killing her. This was a decent debate here until you said that. Good lord, you all like murder when the victim is someone that can't speak for themselves.

I have to agree with you here Davo. I am all for the removal of the feeding tube and seeing how she does on her own, but lethal injection?? What's the point? That's just wrong. She didn't do anything wrong to have to die THAT way. It's sad she's going to die at all, but man, that's just harsh. If there was another way to feed her without the tube, I am sure the docs will find it. If not, and she passes, she won't be suffering anymore. I highly doubt she enjoys being the way she is now, and apparently her directive to her hub was to let her go, but it's her parents who are defying her wishes.

You are lucky, JVT. My scenario was your nightmare. My father had no will AND didn't update the deed of the hosue- from his previous marriage. With both names on the house as DECEASED, the house became an estate- in which my half sister decided to take advantage of the situation.. and I almost lost my home.
A will is a MUST. I have a draft copy written, unfortunately it isnt notarized yet. But it will be hopefully soon.

And the fight goes on. In short she has the feeding tube again, for now. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7212079/
Over 200,000 miles and dead......kinda. Time to get a new ride.

I see the removal of the feeding tube as a form of killing, as it is pretty much known that she won't survive without it. Just as bad as lethal injection, but far more painful because it happens over a course of weeks and not hours. Something about "cruel and unusual punishment" fits in here ... we don't even starve our criminals to death, why would they want to do that to her?

She doesn't have the feeding tube at all. The Legislature has no power to change a Judicial verdict. All the new bill does is ensure that the case will be heard by a federal court and that she will be put back on the tube until they can. But she'll still be without the tube for a few days until it goes into effect. And then they must wait until the case can be heard by them. Chances are, since the parent's have lost every other time they've gone to court (over 12 times), they'll lose again.
