Hi everyone,

I have checked the archives and did not see anything about my problem I am having. I am driving a 98 Contour 4 cylinder with the v-tec engine. 160,000 kms

I recently had Ford do some major repairs to an internal solenoid that controls the timing. Cost me $1800 arggggg!

For the most part I do not have any problems accelerating from a stop; unless the car is cold then I am having some shaking problems. When I am on the highway and the traffic slows down and I take my foot off the gas and try to accelerate again the car bucks like a bucking horse. It almost feels like I am in a standard car in the wrong gear. I have not had any transmission problems to date so I don't think it is that? This happens with a full tank of gas as I have seen in posting problems with the fuel pump so I dont think it is that either? If I let the car slow down a bit before giving it gas it goes again but sometimes I need to drop my speed about 20 km. This is not good when I am in traffic on the highway so you can see why I need to find out what is wrong.

I took the car back to Ford and there are no codes coming off it and I do not have a cell light on so they said they can see nothing wrong.

Could this be caused by a clogged fuel filter? I am going to replace mine this weekend to see if it helps. I also tried on a couple of occasions adding fuel injector cleaner but again no help.

Please if someone has experienced this problem and have some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all.
