Hey Everybody,
Here's the stupid question for the day. How bad is it on my 98 CSVT to drive it at high speeds fairly frequently. Between 160KM-180KM/Hour.
By the way,
I REALLY hope nobody drank as much green beer as I did last night! I actually peed green this morning,I think I would feel better if I was run over by a Mac Truck!

i feel about the same and it blows. However, my urine was still yellow. As far driving fast. Not really a problem. Its the hard take offs and quick stops that can lead to problems. Well, there is one potential problem... speeding tickets .. LOL

That's the limiter you're hitting.

Not too good, since that's high revs. I wouldn't sustain those kind of speeds very long. (Not that I haven't, but...)

a) high revs are harder on the engine
b) it's a lot of prolonged stress on the transaxle
c) it's really dangerous!

It's not that your car can't take it, but it's similar to the stresses of high acceleration, only it's constant.

So it's not good, but nothing will blow up if you do it, provided the car is in great mechanical shape. Just more wear and risk. And danger of getting messed up.

Cons:
-Exessive gas consumption
-Coming up on other divers traveling 1/2 the speed.
-Cook your brakes if you slam them on
-Get license taken away possibly if caught

Pros:
-It's a blast

One hard stop from 110 made smells I never thought existed... I now associate that smell with buying new pads and rotors.

Is Ontario's police force called Ontario Provincial Police? OPP?? Cause that would be awesome. I would have OPP ready to blast for when I got pulled over.

Considering she has an SVT, she wouldn't be hitting the limiter at any speeds.
I'd say as long as you're running synthetic oil and know what the hell you're doing... let 'er rip.

Penn State's maint. guys are Office of Physical Plant. All the trucks say "OPP" on them.

And I missed the SVT part... Mobil 1 every 3000, keep it clean and happy, and try to keep it shiny side up.

PS- what made you stop at 180? Isn't 200 just mocking you?
