These are the only pics I have around of a UIM/LIM cleaning. A few steps have been skipped, but the general idea is here. Hopefully, this will give you some idea of what to expect.

I've never tried spraying water into the UIM but it is used in water injection systems. If the water isn't "poured" into the engine it shouldn't hurt to spray a little into the intake. If you put too much in I think it would ping.
