Ford quit making them because the dealers never wanted them and Ford wanted to replace both the Contour and Escort with the Focus. The Contour line started out as a pretty legitimate stab at making a smaller performance sedan that could go toe to toe with VW Jettas and the Japanese, not to mention the other European sedans that the Mondeo (UK version of the Contour) would compete against, but then Ford also decided that they'd push them as rental and fleet cars, so in the end it diluted the model line. Most of the people you run into here are a lot more focused on the performance potential that was built into the cars, though.

Anyway, I was going to say to be sure to test your horn as part of your cruise control diagnosis. Just to make sure that you're getting power to the wheel.
