Could the battery / charging system affect acceleration (bucking / stumbling)? I did notice a great deal of corrosion (green / white buildup) on the negative terminal / plate of the battery (I did clean it off) The battery is about 2 years old. I don't know if the corrosion is a common problem or if someting is wrong here too.

If the battery is dead (or almost dead because the alternator can't charge), yes, it could, but you should get the battery/charge light coming on in your instrument cluster (and that would not be the reason for a P0402). You might as well charge the battery while you are at it. Then put some grease (or anti corrosion) on the terminals. Terminal corrosion can happen to any vehicle/battery (and sometimes within 2 or 3 years old).

The car is no longer throwing any codes and the battery light is not on but I am getting a intermittnet loss / drain of power (lights, fan, etc) especially when the air, radio, etc is on. The battery light may have come on for a split second with the loss of power.

I am thinking the alternator is going bad but am not sure. How long does it take? / is it hard to replace the alternator on this car?

Try the Duratec Maintenance FAQ

You may want to check all the wires to the battery and alternator before embarking on the alternator swap.

And have you tested the battery and alternator?

This was suggested by Ray when a previous issue with battery or alternator came up.

"....
Measure voltage across the battery terminals at idle.. should be 14.3-14.7 at idle. manually rev the car via the throttle body and see if the voltage drops. It shouldn't.

with the car off, and the surface charge removed from the battey (turn on headlights and interiors for 60 seconds) it should measure 12.0-12.2ish.

If you don't get the charging voltage, either your alternaotr is going out or your megafuse is blown, though a megafuse would cause a light at all times, and NO charge, not slow charging.... "

Well, it was the Alternator, at least that fixed the loss of power but I STILL have the hesitation / bucking thing going on. Could this be the coil? The reason I ask is because I just (within 6 months) replaced all wires and plugs. The problem went away after wire / plug replacement but has since returned.

Just for grins, why don't you go check that the plug wires are seated properly and check that they are in the correct position before doing something else.

FIREWALL
4-6-5 <--coil pack
3-2-1

1-2-3 <--engine
4-5-6
BUMPER

Edit. And change the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed in 2 years.

And clean the MAF sensor

Also clean the IAC valve. The IAC valve cleaning "How to" is within this UIM/LIM "how to"
