I'd like to thank everyone for their advice. I replaced the plugs with the Autolite Double platinums last night and it seems to have taken care of the problem. I couldn't get the wires yet (I don't want cheap ones) but the problem seems to be cured.
As for the EGR valve, there was a good coating of carbon in the valve so I'm sure that was defective (or getting there)
One question, what is the DPFE sensor? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with fords yet. Also, do you have to remove the EGR valve to get to the DPFE... I hope not.
