Actually, don't bother replacing the EGR valve as they seldom go bad unless you manually confirm it is defective, i.e, leaky diaphram, stuck actuator, or carbon blockage.
Most EGR problems are due to either blocked EGR passages in the throttle body/intake or a faulty DPFE sensor. Those two faults cover over 90% of the failures I have seen on any Ford.
That said, if there is EGR flow at idle when there shouldn't be, the symptoms will include poor idle and lousy acceleration.
