I normally don't respond to your posts, but seeing as how you jump all over others including mine with 1/2 wit remarks all the time, for no reason...

High 12s on slicks. Um ok..
so you are saying if your contour was RWD, you could hang with a 333 hp RWD M3 in the quarter? Cus my dog can pull low 13s in one of those, stock ....high 12s with a good driver and some sticky tires. My bros old 600 hp camaro ss ran 12s "all day" so, no it would still be hard for you to run 12s.

It's not that FWD sucks. A RWD 1200 hp viper will have a hard time at times because of too much power for traction.
FWd Pro street cars run high 9s low 10 all the time.
It;s the contour platform, the way the car is engineered, weight distribution, position of the diff etc that affects the traction and makes fwd annoying for our cars.

,

He can hang close to an M3 right now. IIRC M3 advertised
1/4 time is 13.3.

I know demon was beating sc'ed svts in the quarter mile even when he just had his 2.5L.

Funny, I know FWD is proven to be better in snow, but I am more comfortable controlling a RWD car in the snow or dry when it gets out of hand. Could be that I learned on RWD.

yeah, fwd gets up and down hills better, and has higher limits on the corners, but when it gets crazy RWD is good if you know how. AWD is just the hot stuff when you're in the cold stuff

My reading skills are fine thanks. Anyway, harmless debating is fun sometimes, but not here to argue all day.

I think the ultimate point of this thread is that it is not so much FWD or RWD, but traction and the dynamics of the vehicle.
There are definate advantages to RWD in autocrossing. It's hard to power out of a corner with FWD. If you have more power than the average CSVT like Demon or others, traction becomes an issue. I haven't experienced any wheel hop, but then again my summer tires are not new anymore, so they don't grab as much.

speaking of AWD, mazdaspeed is coming out with the AWD turbo 6...should be interesting. Not sure I would go for an AWD mazda if I went that route. Mazda is known for substandard drive axels, would suck to have to replace more than 2.

High 12s on slicks. Um ok..

Want to put your foot in your mouth now, or would you like me to drive up to Canada and help you with that? If you had been paying ANY attention since you joined the boards 5 months ago, you would know that he's already hit a 13.4 with drag radials on his FWD Contour!! Take that same power to weight ratio in that same Contour with a RWD platform AND slicks, and he could "probably"(as he said) run 12's..

Now, that hole you were digging yourself.... It just got a lot deeper

Mark

I'm not the one making threats on someone I've never met. That my friend is digging a hole in my opinion. I honestly don't think you could figure out how to get up here on your own. Maybe Demon would have to drive you? Grow up buddy.

I'm not the only one on this board who can smell bullsh!t. We've seen the times that a Z06, turbod CSVt and others have put down in the quarter. And slapping on slicks doesn't take a second off your 1/4 time.
For all the time and money Demon has put into his car, he still has no dyno numbers. Seems strange to me. No disrespect, becaues he I am sure is much more knowledgeable on these cars than I am, but that is one of the first things I did once the motor was dropped back into my summer car.
Until I see any of those numbers, or an official time slip, I am saying it is a little hard to believe that his car, weighing in at more than 800 lbs more than my z, with much less power to the wheels AND traction issues can make very similar times in the 1/4. And he isn't the only one who can drive a car. I've been doing it for 20 years.

I'm drunk. Your banter pisses me off. There's a problem with that and it needs to be eliminated. It certainly doesn't start with me putting the bottle down.

And don't bring up Mazda. There's clubs for them. It's called the Mazda Klub. No, I'm not making that up either.

yeah but it sounds like its going to be heavy and not really going anywhere fast like other turbo'd awd cars. but thats just heresay (sp wtf?) and conjecture (again)...or is it?

I suppose we won't know until someone has had first hand experience with one.
