It really depends on the club. Most newer clubs (dance and strip both) are moving towards MP3 systems, and auto-balance and crossfading. Hell, then even match the BPM's for you now! I just got done installing a $25k setup for a club here in town, including a simple computer and winamp setup, with big-screens all over showing the visualizations over videos. Very slick setup, but I still prefer spinning wax myself. For a lack of a better term, the "ghetto clubs" still use LPs and tables, since they like the very fine control you can only get on them. (The MP3 systems are nice, as are the Pioneer CDMixers, but nothing compares to the sound of needle scratching on good tables...)
So, it really depends on what type of club you plan on working for. I still play with the turntables at home, but on the weekends I'll guest-DJ at the club now and then, and then its all MP3. Point and Click DJ'ing.
