I called up ford and they told me to use AWSF32F. So i asked him to compare the plugs and he said on the "F" there is this thin point that it comes down to to almost concentrate the spark. and that the AWSF32PP wasnt specified for the duratec but for the vulcan

You went and talked to Ford and expected to get the correct info. :rolleyes: :p

Duratec requires double platinum plugs. The 32F is a single platinum, fine wire electrode plug.

32PP - 2xP = double platinum
22FS - F+P = double platinum, fine wire electrode, 1 step colder

Also the Vulcan uses a AGSF style plug IIRC. The AWSF style plugs are a newer design made for the OHC engines (2.5, 3.0, 4.6, 5.4)

The 95 V6 uses the AWSF32PP and the factory specifies the AWSF32F for the V6 after that.

I don't care for the fine wire single plat plug. Ford did too good of a job of convincing me that a double plat plug was necessary on coil pack engines. I will admit that the original plugs still looked fine when changed at 60,000 miles. They ran great too. The double plats that I have used since also looked fine when they were changed at 120,000 miles. The double plats that are in it now are running fine.

So why the fine wire plug type which is specified for the 01' 3l. What are the advantages of one over the other.

A fine wire electrode promotes a cleaner burn. "Technically" more efficiency (power), better throttle response, and less emissions.
Though with them having a smaller grounding point you could argue for them having a shorter life expectancy as well.
