Was pissed off on Saturday night and yanked up the EB a little too hard when I parked. Heard a snap crackle pop, and yes indeed, it blew. I took the center console apart on Sunday morning, and it looks like the small end-stop of the cable popped off. Looks like a soldered-on piece and there would not be any way to repair it other than ordering and installing a new cable. Anyone got any alternate ideas such as maybe a threaded-type end stop or similiar? Do they make such a thing? Please! I cannot live without my EB! Thanks... XL

That eBay seller I posted about may have a replacement cable for you. He seems to be parting out an entire CSVT. Email him. Hope this helps.

Just kidding. Kokopelians idea seems best. Give him an email. I'm sure they are'nt expensive at the stealership, either. I wouldn't fool around with tryin to "fix" it back, let alone re-soldering it. I'd hat eto see that gorgeous car parked on a hill and have the hand brake give out.

Or do like 98% of the manual transmission driving population and put the car in gear I don't see how people can trust an e-brake to hold a 3000lb vehicle on any sort of hill.. Mark

I never do either, hand brake just seems not "heavy duty" enough. But he seems to use it. Trying to remeber the last time I ever used the hand brake... besides when there was snow .... nope, can't remember.

unless it's a good sized hill, i trust the e-brake. (remote start forces me to!) i have never had a problem.

I do that, since mine doesn't work well, but sometimes I like to leave the car running while I go do something, or let it warm up, etc.

So far I got $38.00 for the entire cable kit from my SVT Performance hookup at Tousley Ford in MN. Can anybody beat this? It's cheap anyway, but shaving a couple bucks wouldn't hurt . XL

You should use the ebrake unless the car is on a very steep hill or in conjunction with putting it into gear. Using the ebrake keeps the rear calipers exercised and aids in keeping them from freezing/hanging up. Also less stress on the tranny internals and keeps pressure off the parking pawl.
