After installing flywheel clutch and Quaife I was slowly gaining on all of my gears.
Cooler: that's not the case here; most of our races were in the winter and spring. This summer we are breaking records for hottest summer it was in the 30°C when we raced at night. I think Hotter or Cooler air will affect both car not just mine, both of us have similar set-ups CAI with K&N filters.
Gas, I was using regular gas (87 Octane) from the same gas station (Petro Canada) that I've been filling from for the past 4 years.
Can you explain why the SVT's were designed with lighter flywheel (3lbs less) than the regular duratecs? My explanation performance gains.
Maybe you had bad luck with your flywheel, but it doesn't mean there is no performance gain. I felt it and proved it by beating my friend.
Maybe it's the whole setup Clutch and Flywheel, I've heard about a lot of people of having problems with aluminium flywheels and stock clutchs. Did you have an aftermarket clutch on your setup?
Ok ask any drag racer what type of flywheel the use and the will tell you steel. It has been proven on stangnet that there are no gains from aluminuim flywheels on the drag strip. I have one of thee heaviest duty clutch you can get. Metallic puck which can be ran with slicks if I wanted. I am not explain myself if you are happy with your 400 dollar cnc machined aluminium that is fine by me. You can aquire close to the same results with a steel flywheel by having it lathed down were it doesn't weigh as much. You can expect gains to an extent with making the mass lighter. If 10 Lb is so much better than 24 why didn't ford just put 10lb flywheels on everything? There has to be a medium between the two weights. If you are happy with your investment thats good. Good luck in your future mods.
