The legislature will tell you they cannot live without lobbyists because they simply do not have enough time to be educated on every issue and bill that passes them. The problem I have with this is that special interests that lobby legislature hard corrupt our legislature. True they do not give money but they still give them favors. I still see it as bribery when a representative takes long vacations on the blank check of lobbyists and special interests. In this way representatives no longer are looking out for our needs, they are no longer accountable to us; the constituency. They are put there to serve us, not big business. Both parties do this. The mainstream media is no longer the check and balance that it was during the Nixon administration. We now have a totally tabloid and sensationalistic media. News has become a source of profit rather than a service to its viewers. This pseu�·do news or infotainment is not serving the publics interest. They say that they are serving the public interests because what they show interests the public but the public interest has nothing to do with what interests the public. One of the biggest lobby groups in the US are the broadcasters. They have become huge corporations that have become buddies with government and are also no longer accountable to us. This is why I feel I have no representation in the US. No one is serving MY or anyone elseâ��s interests. They just feed up crap to keep us docile and politically inactive. They make us forget that people are working longer hours today for less money than they were 20 years ago. That's just the way I see it and if anyone else can give me a clear idea how these big interests are going to all of a sudden turn honest and start serving us I would be very happy.
