I think many of the "snapshot" pictures which determine how the quality of life is are simplistic and yield results which are shaky at best.
Define standard of living. What makes a standard of living higher or lower for an individual or family.
Health? How much is that controlled by the choices the individual makes... same with life expectancy.
Pensions an outdated and outmoded investment vehicle which represents the times when a person worked their entire career with the same company. This is not a reality of the modern workplace... more often than not by the choice of the employee.
There is a lot more to defining quality of life than these statistics... where does happiness play a part?
