I have a mechanical, they're easier to mount, the electrical sender unit won't fit near the sender, so you'd have to tap the block IIRC.
Personally i'd go mechanical, as long as you do it right there are no leaks, mine hasn't, my friend runs mexhanical oil in all his cars and his families and none of them have ever leaked, and some have been runnin a mech. oil gauge for over 10 years. Done right, no worries. and the Mechanical will give you a better accuracy, an electric only gives you a 90 degree sweep, as a mechanical give you a full 180 i believe.
