Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a car-storage facility in eastern Mass or southern NH. It's for my '78 T-bird (18 feet, 4000lbs of pure Detroit steel). Right now, it's down in Jersey with my mom, but she's selling the place, so Bertha needs a new home.

As always, any and all leads are appreciated. Thanks!

if i didnt alread have a garage full of stored cars, i would let you put it here.

Cobra will most likely chime in onthis one at some point, he has his SVT stored somewhere around that area.

I store my antique car in a bank of garages on Spring Hill Terrace in Somerville. The property is owned by a nice old guy:

Ralph B. Frongillo
52 Fountain Street
Medford, MA 02155

I don't know his phone number, but you could write him a letter and see if he has any garages open (there are like 20 of them on his property).

Hope that helps.

Cobra stores his car at Morgan Storage in Manchester NH, but they have other locations.
Pretty decent prices.
Call around to local storage facilities in your phone book and check them out.
Lots of them rent out to people storing cars. The spots fill up fast in the winter months, but you may still be able to find something.

It's a good idea to go look at them before you book though just to be sure you want to put your baby in them.
One thing to look out for is how easy it would be to drive your car into the spot. Some facilities have a little lip before the unit, so that might cause some problems getting the car in and out, unless you made some sort of ramp.

I used to work for a Self Storage company in Plaistow. We had people store cars all the time. In terms of the lip, it was in excess of 1.5 feet in some places.

We had 2 HUGE boards (3x12 roughly) that we used as ramps to bring the cars in and out when needed.

Also, shop around and find some good rates. Don't be afraid to negotiate a price with anyone that isn't a national chain. At my facility we did not have a published pricing list. It changed with every new customer. Basically we tried to get everything we could out of someone. It was like used car sales. Start high and make them think they're getting a great deal. If they don't question it, even better.
