As a good side story... one of my dad's customers was a total hillbilly... he walks into a Chevy dealership looking for a salesman. Noone will talk to him, so he sits down, and realizes the sole is coming off of his shoe, so he starts flipping it around. Finally, someone comes over to him and asks him "is there something I can help you with?" in a very sarcastic tone... he says no and leaves.

He drives to another Chevy dealership where he walks in and is greeted immediately by a salesman. "How can I help you today, sir?" They go about their business, and as he's closing the deal he says "do me a favor... call Kelley Chevy up and tell them that the old country boy with the busted shoe just bought 15 pickup trucks" and you never would have known and he never said anything.

Despite being a total hick, he was the founder/CEO of a $100 million plus manufacturing company and was buying company trucks. (He also owns Winchester Speedway, "The fastest half-mile track in the world")

yep - but most pricks that sell cars arnt that smart. I did the same thing and will prob do the same thing till I die. There is no need to put on a show for the hosers, they should dance to MY tune, not me to theirs.
We had that happen several times when I worked for a dodge dealer: dirty guy came in one day after his truck broke down on the freeway, purchased 25 trucks from us because he didnt think the rest of his delivery fleet was going to last much longer than his truck had. He traded in all his trucks the next day and we had to scramble like mad to dealer trade and all that jazz to get 25 white and red trucks from 1500 to 3500. That guy was the local owner operator of Coca Cola.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I am yet to see anyone roll into my dealership in a beat up POS Kia, trade it in and drive away in a Turbo S...

BTW, please don't try to compare a Dodge dealership with a Porsche...

Pssst don't look now but you're being an elitist butthead. Ever see the Pope take a crap? But you know it happens right?

The moral of the story is contrary to what marketing folks tell us is "you can't tell a book by it's cover".

Anthony "Spag" Borghatti (RIP), owner of a well known huge general store complex ("Spags," RIP also ) in Shrewsbury MA, had a similar story floating in rumors here ... only it was a Cadillac dealership and he wanted to buy two Caddies. Well known for his cowboy hat, the first salesman actually shunned him away but the next dealership (further away, mind you) recognized him immediately and asked how many.

You want a completely clueless dealer ? Try this: I pull into a Ford dealer with my freshly washed and waxed Mustang. I was eyeballing a 2004 GT. The guy comes up to me and asks me what year my car is. I say its a 91. He says Hmmm, time to get rid of that. What kind of a car is it ? And he's staring right at it !! Makes me wonder what kind of a basement this guy has been living in. I mean come on, that body style has only been around for 24 years !

Maybe a carerra gt and a 911 turbo s together comes sorta close.

<--- Yeah, what he said!

Carrera GT = $448,000
911 Turbo S = $155,000 (average)

Grand Total: $603,000

So unless every one of those Dodges happen to be SRT-10s, then no they would not equal the value of the two...
