From all accounts I've heard they are of the highest quality. The 2 video clips I posted give you an idea of what an exhaust with ss magnaflow's sounds like. Granted it's more involved than just replacing a resonator and mufflers. I have a co-worker who has a sig welder (whatever kind can do stainless) but he hasn't used it a lot ( he has tons of welding experiance, just not on stainless). I may have a shop put the resonator on soon ($20) and then do the mufflers later.

I am kinda torn though as I can see how you would see a coffee can/rice look:

Are those SS magnaflows you mentioned the street or race series? I just bought 2 SS race series "I forgot the model # off hand" for 103.00 each from a guy on ebay. I was supposed to have them about a week ago, but it turned out he didn't have them in stock. He just got them in the other day, and shipped them on thursday. I should have them tommorow or monday, and probably installed monday. I can't wait, cause I've heard great things about magnaflow.

Ok, I looked into Jegs, would this work and what do you think?

Resonator replacement:

642-11215 2.25'' In/Out Muffler $69.99

For mufflers:

2 x Single Outlet, 5'' x 8'' x 14'' Oval Body
642-14814 2.25'' In/4.0'' Dia. x 4'' Long Double Wall, Angle Cut Tip | View Product $129.99

Which puts me at a total of $329.97 less my buddies 30% discount. I could get all 3 components for 230.98.

If I wait for my co-worker/friend to learn his sig welder better, I could get the install for a case of beer and some elbow grease.

What do you think? The Bassini is on GB for $550, but as far as I know comes with no resonator and some have added a resonator due to rasp which drives the price up even more.

The other option for install is a co-worker's neighbor (retired body shop owner) has a lift in his garage (unf, unf) and would probably do a better job than any local shop for less.

Please give me any advice you have to offer, do's/don't, whatever. Can I use the stock brackets? Since I picked the mufflers with tips I assume that those 3 things are all I will need. Is there anything I'm missing? Should I price out non tipped mufflers with the tip of my choosing?

The same mufflers for $102 on sale would be $90 from Jegs for me with discount...

Oh BTW, with the money your saving by not buying the Borla catback you can get yourself a sho-shop high flow y-pipe. If your trying to avoid rasp as much as possible you can get the y-pipe with high flow catalytic converter, but if your not overly concerned with it, and really want to improve performance you can get it without a cat. I have the catless y-pipe, and no resonator, and to be quite honest it's way too raspy. After I have the magnaflows installed, and see how it sounds I will most likely be adding a resonator. The y-pipe is a must though in my opinion, and performance is definately increased.

So these 3 items are all I should need, right?

If it where your car, would you wait for 1 buddy to get better at welding stainless, or go to a buddies neighbor who has a lift and pay more???

Let me look down the line farther. Once I free up all this exhaust, how do I get more air into the engine? I want to avoid a open air element heat soak issue. Why can't we get a ram air system of some type (like those made for mustangs). I think it would sell like hotcakes.

Isn't there something in the stock svt intake that restricts airflow?

Is there any issue with lack of back pressure?

Personally I would rather pay more and know that it's getting done right, but that's just me. As far as a ram air system, I think many people on here have tried various things, and the results weren't so promising. I've heard people mention that there is an intake resonator in the fenderwell that can be removed. You could give that a try. I know I would, but I would probably end up taking off the whole fender. LOL

looks very nice! The only thing that i have had troube with is the stock resonator in my SCVT was an offset resonator , meaning the inlet/outlets were on opposite sides of the muffler so it would fit . You mihgt want to take the car to a shop and have them look at it and make sure that the resonator will fit , but the mufflers should have no problem fitting.Thats just my experience and .02$ . Do u thnk that your guy could get us all discounts! wink LOL
