March 13 = end of the month???

I figured you didn't wanna come out cuz is was so freakin' WINDY and COLD as HELL!!!

Eric - did you make it out? What car(s) were you in? There was some guys in a pre-98 light blue Contour screwing around in the parking lot after we had picked up the cones. Was that anybody from here?

I didn't enjoy it that much even though I got 2nd in GS (out of 4 drivers). It was one screw up after another. First off, the guy designing the course didn't take into consideration the 2 light poles so he had to re-design the course to stay the minimum safe distance from them. I thought he had looked at the site beforehand, but I guess not. Nobody had informed the Dillard's employees about the event, so they were miffed they had to move their cars. All of this made the start about 2 hours late, then the very first run of the day, a corner worker almost got hit. They put the workers in a bad spot and the driver spun out. While scrambling to get out of the way, an older gentleman fell down, injuring his shoulder. That delayed everything about another 20 minutes.

After that, everything went pretty smooth, except for all the people walking onto the course from the apartments. I don't think anyone from the apartments complained about the noise, which was my biggest concern. I didn't get home till around 6:30 which did not make my wife very happy.

EDIT: I am not trying to bash the organizers of the event! I hope it didn't sound like that. They did an awesome job with what they had to work with. The problems (weather, delays) were something they had no control over. The course itself was great for the space they had to work with.

There will be another one April 17, location to be announced. Currently, it is set for Eastland again, but I doubt we'll go there again. That site didn't work out as well as we'd hoped. Wherever it is, I won't be going cuz we'll be on vacation, but I'll post about it here in case anyone is interested.
