I don't remember if he said 98 or 98.5, but still he thinks it's the only one ever made..... even when i clearly pointed out mine was a 2000 As for the Salvage Title, i thought it was perfectly fine to get full coverage it just doesn't cover as much value if it gets totalled again right? I'm thinking about Full coverage this year

I also have a salvage title, what is it with these contour drivers yikes, they wreck all of them. Come on... they only made so many lol. Anyway, I called my insurance company before I bought the car, we have progressive, and they said they would cover it (full coverage) So my story..... my car was at Superior Ford off of hwy 169 and Bass Lake road in Plymoth. They wanted $6,998 for it and then, THEY found out it had a salvage title (if I'm smart enough to check first, shouldn't they) they marked it down to $5,998 and parked it in the back lot. I saw it on autotrader and went and looked at it. When I went to buy it, it took a little convincing, but I got the price down to $4,500. Even though I knew it should be fine. the person drove it for 18,000 miles after the total, and it's been a year and a half I think it was. So for me that was a hell of a deal on a svt just cuz of the salvage title. They almost wouldn't sell it to me, they said the car wasn't a good enough, because they sell quality cars. They wanted to put it back on the auction. but I begged them saying I would take it as in an wouldn't expect anything from them, a black one is hard to find in my area or even in minnesota. so they sold it to me, then I went to the service bay to take it home AFTER signing the "as is" papers and SOME DUMBASS HIT IT!!! some guy who worked there drove it or drove something into the front bumper. So to make a long story short they're a very nice dealership and I have a brand new paint job on my front bumper and it's very very nice and only being 18 I got a rental car out of it too. so that's my salvage title story. Sorry it is sooooooo long! -Denise

He bought a car not knowing it was salvage, put full coverage on it. When the insurance company found out (before my friend did), they would only let him put liability coverage on the car.
That would be true if your friend didn't take the car to be inspected by an insurance agent, have an appraisal done, or have the repairs done at a reputable body shop. If nobody can prove that it was fixed to prior condition, liability is all that can be offered for insurance.
Heck, my '86 Trans Am could be totaled by having a light tap on the nose or tail simply because it would cost more to fix the car than the car is worth to replace the whole thing. Anymore, totalling a car is about funds, not unfixable damage like it used to be.

All this talk I did a little research on my car to find out it was also wrecked. I found where the xar was. Insurance auto auctions. Did a little diging to find out it was hit twice. The first one was little but the second one required all new sheetmetal up front, windshield, and airbags. I paid 2000 for my lx. No visable frame damage though just looked like cosmetic. My title is new and clean says nothing about salvage on it. I just noticed it in the paper work from the dealer I bought it from. I told him and suddenly he droped the remaining 500 from 2500 and I paid 2000.

Yeah that dude was crack head thinking he was going to get that kind of money out of a salvaged titled car. Even if it didnt have a salvage title it would be hard to get 10G's for it.

Hey 90k still isn't too bad, that's brand new compared to a lot of people's SVT's. I agree they're very hard to find, especially with low miles, i ended up driving an hour and a half just to test drive my car then later in the week 2 1/2 hours to pick it up I must say it was well worth it though
