So I have to transport the shell of a car from Nashville, TN to Clemson, SC. only problem is that this shell doesn't roll...Any suggestions on the least expensive mode of transportation for this thing. I'm trying not to spend more on transportation than I'm spending on the shell...$150

Tow it yourself, borrow a friend, neighbor, or co-workers trailer... maybe a snomobile trailer, utility trailer, and haul it yourself. Strap the crap out of it, you'll make it. Shipping that far, would run a few hundred on a freight shipper. Or, if you could get ahold of a truck with an 8 foot bed, that would also do fine. Since its just the shell, it probably only weighs about 800 pounds, pending the type of car it is. Nother option, rent a uhaul, one of the 39.99 jobbies, I belive the box is 20' long or so, that would probably be the cheapest and eaiest. Just have a few guys on hand tpo help you lift it into the truck. My dad transported the shell and frame of a 72 corvette in one of those.

It's a 2000 civic si...yeah i thought about towing it myself, but I'd have to find somebody with a truck and trailer willing to drive that 11 hours round trip. It is an option never the less

ps i'm buying the car this weekend...i'm hoping the guy will let me keep it on his property until i figure something out.

I seriously think the U-haul would be the best way to go, just tell them you are moving a bunch of boxes.. not that it really matters what you put in the thing. An 11 hour trip would allow you to return the truck that evening. Make a post in the carolina section, see if a few guys will lend a hand. If I was in your area, I'd give ya hand.

Hmm... but then again, with the cost of diesel, it may put you over your 150.00 benchmark.

Because I also came into the possession of a B16 A2 motor and tranny with 55k on it, a stock interior in perfect condition and a koni red adjustable struts and coil overs for less than 2k. So basically because i'm getting a very good used car for about 2500...

I still love my '96 se don't get me wrong, but it's technically the "family car" which will be passed down through each of my three brothers. I would still take the se over the si and i plan on going head to head with my bro driving the se and me in the civic...i have full confidence in the tour, just not my brother's driving abilities. I'll try to get a video if anyone is interested and can host it.

Sorry about your car, looks like it was a sweet ride. Hopefully I will be able to relate as soon as I get mine "built."
