Unfortunately, the door switches suck on these cars. The good news is that they are fairly easy to fix! Just take out the screw that holds the switch in and clean the contacts on the back side. Be careful not to let the wire fall back in the door frame! You might check the slide function as well, and make sure that the switch isn't sticking mechanically. You can clean the slide area and/or lube it with some plastic-safe lubricant. Maybe graphite or something? Or, you could just buy new switches and be done with it for a while. Be sure to check the screw area and clean it if needed, as that completes the path to ground and gets corroded too.
