I got no answer, but I still need to know: is there anyone who has successfully upgraded their MAF to a larger size one with good results? Did you have to mess with the computer to get it to work? I've heard any number of people talk about this -- has anyone done it?

I love my Pro-M 75mm. I've had great success with it.

I've had it on ~2yrs.

I found pro-flow.com and looked at the advertised gizmo, and they listed a price of $500. Ooof! But then I dug in deeper and they listed a 70mm one for the Focus (presumably compatible with my zetec) for only $200. I guess that's reasonable enough to at least think about, though stock MAFs are available under $100.

At this point it looks like my old MAF is not defective -- the car is now running correctly. It may just need cleaning every two months or so. We'll see. If it keeps getting repeatedly gunked up, I may need a different air filter.

Paul, I had the Pro-M 75mm unit on my car for a few years with no problems. Here is the place I purchased it from for around $185 shipped:

I hope everyone notices that the person who started this topic has a ZETEC and not a Duratec engine. Are the connectors to the wiring harness the same on the different engines? From what I've heard the Zetec needs substantial mods to get decent gains out of a larger MAF.

Suffice it to say my mod list has become so long that it is just ridiculous
