i have decided to get an accusump and plumb it like "popes". i also had a "good" idea tonight. seeing some other threads with some people stating that high rpms will cause the oil pump to empty the pan. now as i have read the oil gets trapped in the heads due to the lack of addquate drain holes. what if we could add some holes in the valve covers to drain the oil back to the pan faster. is this just stupid or what.

The oil pools in the recesses of the heads. (i.e. the head walls are tall) The cam covers do top the heads but if you look at them they are not very tall.

If you wanted to try and help the problem you could drill the rear side of each of the heads right at the base of the corner and put a LARGE hose that ran down into the pan.

The logic behind this is that the oil must pool in more volume in the rearside because it's a right hand susceptibility.


Of course the work and money involved to try a project like this would make an accusump look like a much wiser investment. It's also tried and true.

Maybe you could figure out a way to use a scavenger pump, like with a dry sump, to pull the excessive oil from the heads. It hardly seems worth the effort when there are other ways around the problem.
