Hey guys, I searched, but wasn't able to get the info I need. Where did you guys get your H7 projectors? I have found some sites that have the H9's, but I've yet to see the H7's. Is there another name for them (cause aren't the H9's also considered 90mm?)?
One other question, Is the general opinion that the H7's are better then the H9's? I know a couple people on here have said that H9's are better if the lens from an H7 is installed. Thanks in advanced.

Why are the H7s better? I guess the H7s having the superior beam pattern (especially when converting to HID), better light control, a razor sharp cutoff and bulb availability are always a downside.
Since the H7s arent legal on US roads, I guess that is a actual negative, but I have put countless hours on my H7s and havent had a moments trouble.
Expect to pay slightly more then the H9 DOT lamps ($40 extra/pair), since these are imported. The lamps are not listed on the site but if you give them a call they can give you all the info you need. Either way, I have delt with both Susquehanna and PUMA and both were excellent.

With respect to Jon, I tend to disagree. It is my opinion that H9 projectors fitted with an H7 lens are the best ones available. H9 projectors have a much bigger reflective surface area, due to the fact that they are detuned HID Projectors. Indeed the H9 bulb base and its mounting in the H9 Projector are very similar to the same projector using the D2S HID bulb. Therefore, retrofitting the H9 with a D2S HID bulb is the best combination. Also, there are H9 HID kits available too...

Ok, just to make sure I have this right. I have D2S bulbs and ballasts from an '04 Lexus. All I need are the H9 projectors (90mm?) and time to install?
I'm still slightly confused after reading so many past posts on how these projectors actually go into the housings. How do they fit in the reflector part? Since I'm not doing lows only, I won't be able to get rid of that piece like Dion.

You will need to mod them somewhat. Info is here. Milan, I hadnt thought of what you are refering to. The H9 does have a wider beam spread then the H7 (which is good) and the crisp ECE cutoff would be retained. Since a airborne rock found one of my H9s, making me replace them both so they would match, perhaps I will have to tinker next week and see what I come up with.

Jon:
You are in the right path my friend. I tinkered with the H7, H9 and even the 120mm Projectors. Since the 120mm was way too big for our application, it came down to the H7 and the H9.
If you do more research you will find that the H9 is actually the Hella 90mm Xenon, slightly modded to take the halogen H9, thus offering the customer awesome lighting for fraction of the cost.
Another indication of the superiority of the H9 is the fact that the bulb is 65 Watts, which is the brighest DOT approved bulb found anywhere!
The H7 is rated at 55 Watts, and the reflector surface is at least 25% smaller than that of the H9. Now to detune the the H9 and make it compatible with the stupid and idiotic DOT regulations ( ), a frensel (ribbed) lense was installed for US markets ONLY to detune it further, thus reducing light output.
The H7 has no such restrictions, thus a clear lense is utilized, giving it a razor sharp cut-off beam pattern and more down the road visability and projection.
So the best combination therefore is to use the H9 projector and then switch the front lens with that of an H7 projector lens.
I call this my "Hybrid H9 Setup"
Do this and you will get something like this:
***Note: I shaved the cut-off shield, so the actual beam pattern will be a pattern like this: ____/----

Looking good Dion! Make sure the guy did not hose you though. Don't want the 8000k kit, it is pure crap. And if you consider the fact that the kit will undergo a colorshift, it will be in the 9000k range in a year or so...
Otherwise, the car and the lights look pimp!
