First, the HU should be on it's own power source. I actually run a dedicated fused wire myself as I won't have any doubts that way that it was done right.
That said, check all your connections one more time, and if the problem persists, you may be one of a select few of us who ever had a bad Alpine product. Exchange it asap.
yes as Honkeytonk said..stock amp is terrible
Yes I wired a dedicated line for mine as well i belive its 8 or 10 gauge has a 30 amp built it fuse in the power wire and then a 15amp fuse built into the Alpine power wire that I spliced into (thats what your supposed to do per Alpine). The amp kit i bought for this dedicated wire can handle up to 250watts which is plenty sufficient for this HU.
Honkeytonk, do you have an Alpine HU? Maybe I'm just not used to it, i dunno. I mounted it into its dash port and I guess its a little bit better. On yours do you see the background (non-lit) icons or numbers at all? I can see everything faintly and then what should be lighted is a decent bit brighter. I changed the font to the "bold" and it made it a little better. Is this normal for Alpine and just something I need to get used to? Or is there something wrong.
