Two people in this thread say replacing the valve fixed what you are describing. I was just pointing you to a picture. The valve isn't too expensive.

When you are at a light you are at idle. This is where the IAC comes in. If you are on the highway and take your foot off the gas and coast, and you have a stall...IAC comes in at this point. This part is not to expensive and is crtical to smooth running engine at idle, etc. I would just replace it.

Don't get me wrong, thanks for the picture and all the advice. I am going to try and run some carbourator cleaner through it first and try that. But like Bob said I will probably end up replacing it anyway, I'll try the cleaning until I pick one up so I can gain a little confidence back in my old reliable.
