Other then the obvious parts like the transmission, shifter, and pedal assembly, what other parts are different between a 1998+ ATX and an 1998+ MTX car? Are the axles shafts common between the two drivetrains? What about things like the front brakes? What about electronics? Will the 5-speed transmission plug into the existing ATX wiring?

SOrry for all the questions guys, I'm just trying to get an idea of what I'm getting myself into before I actually go and start buying parts to convert my car to a 5 speed.

SEARCH, I did this and posted all the details! Mine was a pre 98 so you would need shifter cables, tower and stick instead of the rod shifter setup.


ATX MTX swap, rear drum disc swap, drilled rotors, ported intake, optim throttle body, CAI, 7.5L MAF, adj. fuel regulator, longtube headers, underdrive pulley, no EGR, low inpedence bigger injectors, 2002 Focus Swap

Cant that be a HUGE HUGE HUGE problem, because if i remember right, anything 1996 or oldre the auto trans is hooked up to the brakes, engine, so and so forth, making it Xtremely difficult to pull a switch. I cant be sure on the year but i imagine every manufactuer is different, but good luck.
