Again you are comparing a boosted engine verses N/A.[/b]

No, I am comparing what I think will be the power level of Chris's turbo kit on a 2.5L Duratech vs. the turbo 4 in the minivan... I don't see the Contour running 12's...

Displacement is close or the same (2.2L & 2.5L like the Caravan is) The larger 4-cylinders actually produce better torque but sacrifice redline and rev-ability to do so!

Only the R/T engine boasted more HP than the stock SVT at 224. They went to Lotus the get that breathing magic done (DOHC head) All other mopar turbos were in the 142-174 range.

I can think of a forged bottom end turbo Duratec that made a conservative 450HP.

hmmm. linkage please? I believe you and all, just want to look at that bad boy for myself.

It's not that it's not possible in the least. It's just a heck of a lot more expensive!

Understood.

Another thing you are missing is the fact the Contour platform is setup for handling.
Also the weight transfer of a caravan is non-existant. (front to back anyway - side to side is another matter)

So put them on a dyno then. No reason we should not be able to match the power levels he gets at at least 13 PSI, and out torque him with a 6 vs. a 4.

I learned turbo's on the 2.2L Mopars. They are quite stout beasts and very fast for the econo boxes they were put in. I have nothing bad to say about them mechanically... (ATX's aside - they suck!)

Personally I'd much rather have my SVT than any Mopar turbo. Even the Mitsu built ones; though I am partial to the Conquest TSi a lot! laugh
Will be interesting to see the end power results of the turbo Duratech, for sure...! smile
