Why do you care what it sounds like outside the car? Are you going to be running along beside the car while someone else is driving? Oh, I get it... you'll be riding on the roof, won't you.

My answer as to what sounds best in a Contour? Put your mids/tweets in the kick panels (aimed properly of course) and put 8" subs in the front doors. And don't have any speakers turned on aft of the B-pillar.

And rule #1, keep the sound INSIDE the car.

yeah, and neither will the thieves that'll follow you home and steal your tunes from you. And yes, this has happened many times.

If they don't know it's there, they won't follow you home.

I used to sell car and home audio at the Best Buy in Downers at 75th & Lemont (when it first opened and before they moved to the big store they're in now). I heard lot's of stories about how people got their stuff stolen right in their driveway. These same people were also the ones that drove around letting everyone hear they had something. So, I started using this as a selling tool whenever a young man would come in wanting me to design a system that could be heard from 'x' distance away. I would ask them why, and whether they really wanted the thieves to hear them driving around, follow them home, and steal it from them. They then got a lot more realistic with their system goals and turned out much happier. Except there was the one kid that actually said "Yes, I do want someone to hear it, follow me home, and steal it from me". He was beyond help.






ya when i was a installer i caught one of the other installers writing down people addresses and they would come back the next day with there [censored] stolen!

Like 20 some people came back then i was like see ya!
