Try to upgrade your ground wires! The stock ground (from the negative post) is only 10-12 guage I think... its tiny! Upgrade it to the bigest wires your using on your amps...

Also, upgrade the groung wre from your battery to your alternator..

Upgrading to a yellow top solved all of my problems... my headlights used to go off when my subs hit... now I have enough juice to power 2 cars at the same time.. lol

Moving up to a 80 amp alternator? The stock contour alternator is rated at 135 amps.

If you truly need more than that, search for the threads regarding the PA Alternator, 200 amp IIRC.

also, iirc, none of the optima batteries like to be completely discharged, be it yellow or red top.

Yep, the optima's do not recover well if completly drained and allowed to sit that way. If they sit for long period of time with out activity they seem to be less effective. Not sure if its the material used or what.

if an optima battery 'dies' they just need to be 'shocked' back to life with 120 amps i believe, a friend of mine used to work at autozone and people would constantly bring back yellow tops because they wouldn't charge or were dead, so he jumped it back to life and got an optima yellow top for $8 core charge, yes EIGHT DOLLARS, and i still hate him for that.

hey guys, what is the model number of a optima yellow top that will fit in the engine compartment? All the ones i've looked at seem too big.

You may also want to look into a Hawker Odyssey battery. They're an improvement on the basic design of the Optima Yellowtop. They're supposed to be good for 400 cycles at a full 100% depth of discharge.
