I don't think the tours use a MAP sensor. Not in the Duratec anyways.

Hmm that is odd, it would be one of the few modern fuel injected vehicles without it, I just naturally assumed. In any case, fodder worth researching.

A MAP is a manifold absolute pressure sensor.

We use a MAF, a mass AirFlow meter.

big difference in the sensors and I will tell you that the MAF is superior in every way except with regard to the debate on intake restrictions.
The MAP isn't mounted in the intake whereas the MAF has the sampling tube right in the airstream.
Still, Ford makes them plenty big enough with regard to Flow Area and each one is fine-tuned for each engine.

The MAP isn't fine tuned, it is just a sensor that provides data for use in Speed vs. density calculations.
Oh, the MAP system is also a lot cheaper.
