You know what's funny to me is that people always assume that they pay more for the same jobs in the more expensive areas, but in my experience, its just not true.

I think that there tends to be a larger percentage of more technical jobs and jobs that require a higher education, but for the average workers, I have not seen a vast difference in wage from Cali to the more rural areas.

I know for my line of work (government contracting, engineering) the pay is the same everywhere. I am just willing to have lower living standards in order to afford living here.
