Don't get me started on ASCAP or BMI. I am on my college's radio station and despite the fact that we are non-profit we still have to pay royalties and licenses galore, it is f'd up. We don't make any money yet they still make theirs.

Speaking of "public performance" we tried to put on a showing of "Evil Dead" for halloween. Because of the MPAA and their long arm if we wanted to put it on it would have cost us ~$700 to RENT the film. It gets even better because the theater we wanted to show it in could only old about 200 ppl and we had no intention of charging anyone anything.

Everyone gives their stuff away when they are a nobody but once they make it big they want every last penny. I am not saying I don't buy CD's, DVD's or software because I probably buy more than most people. It just annoys me the expectations some people have.

Exactly,

I mean, do they really think they can stop it? The only people who will stop are the noobs that are afraid of their scare tactics. They close down napster, up pops kazaa and winmx, they flood kazaa with bad songs, up pops bittorrent, they start closing down bittorrent sites, more pop up and then come exeem. Not to mention private FTP sites if you are really deep in it and IRC.

Their efforts are really futile. I wont buy a cd if the band/group does not support music downloads. Movies are a different story (GF would get pissed if we skipped movies).

AHAHAHAHAHAHA *breath* HAHAHAHAHAHA

Okay, do you really think that your ISP does not keep records of the IP they have assigned you? If you think they just magically forget it every time you are reassigned an IP by DHCP, you are very mistaken. They keep plenty and plenty of logs, you'd probably be scared if you knew the amount of random data that is collected.

But the RIAA doesn't really bug people that don't upload, so all that 'port scanning' software is really unnecessary. Run a good software firewall and/or be behind a hardware firewall/router and you should be fine.

I totally agree!

Norton Internet Security + XP SP2 Firewall + WRT54G ROUTER = Safe enough to download all the time and upload occasionally.

why do u have 3 different firewalls, u know thats not necessary right? All you need is the firewall that comes with your WRT54G.
