Because for the price of bilstein, I might as well go all out and get koni. I had some mild experience with spax when I had a bmw, nothing too major though. another Q...the konis dont have to be removed to adjust them , do they??? TIA, again

Konis have the best rep, re durability, and I've seen the Koni/GC combo quite a bit. Thing is, with an adjustable coil spring like the GC, I'd really want to be able to adjust the damping, as well. If it's absolutely just for looks, then maybe the Bilstein, BAT, or Spax struts would be OK, but at that, IMHO, you'd be better with the Bilstein. No data to base that on, except I figure they'd last longer. Still, best bet is Koni.

The Koni "yellows" or "sport" are adjustable on the car. The "reds" or "specials" have to be removed. (They adjust by twisting the shaft, or some such.) The previous poster who mentioned removing them must have been referring to the reds, although I didn't think they even made them for this car. I'm wrong on that, but still, I don't know many people who have them.

HTH.

PS. I forgot this was a thread about Spax adjustables. I didn't mention them because, frankly, they are still very new and nobody has them. They might be fine with GCs, but then, nobody has really tried it. Besides, Konis are cheaper once you leave the BAT catalog.
