Look, no two parts made by man are exactly alike, ever. That is why they have a 'tolerance' range. These 'tolerances' are the variations in physical dimensions between each part that are allowed as "fully functional" in the design of the machine. Tight tolerances mean that there is very little measureable difference between those parts, but that there are still differences.
If a part is supposed to be 100mm +- .1 mm, then you could have a part that is 99.9mm, 100.0mm, or 100.1mm and they would all be within tolerence and usable in your machine, but not truly be the same length. Each part would work well though. Lets say you got two parts and one was 100.06mm and another was 100.02mm. You would have two different parts but you would be LUCKY that they were both within .04 mm of each other. If one was 99.90 and the other was 100.10 then they would be different by .20 mm, 5 TIMES as much differnce as the first example yet still fuctional in your machine! This last example would be considered UNLUCKY if you were worried about this much variation. .
