makes sense since the 3.0L and 2.5L rods are identical.

You sir are correct

Alright I will give you guys a few more details about these kits. We will be testing the rods, thanks to Trevor who will be doing the testing for us.

The rods and pistons will be made by SCAT Crankshafts. The rods will be made of forged steel and the pistons forged aluminum.

All of the rods will be balanced withing +/- .01 gram along with the bearings, rods bolts, wrist pins and piston rings the kit will be ready to install at a std. .020 overbore.

Here is a picture of the I-Beam engine kit we currently offer for the Ford Probe/Mazda MX6....please be aware that this kit uses Wiseco pistons, however, we are having SCAT make the pistons for your kits as to keep costs down.

We will offer both the I-Beam Engine Kits and H-Beam Engine kits for the 2.5L & 3L Duratec Applications. I still don't have any specific pricing but we will run an introductory group buy of 8-10 kits once we have everything ready.

We will sell rod kits for use with stock pistons or pistons purchased elsewhere.

The I-Beam rods we are using will be good to around 500whp - 600whp, I will try and get some solid number on the H-Beams as well.

If anyone has any questions let me know.

Adam,

You might want to note to people that just because the pistons and rods are balanced, does not mean they don't have to rebalance the actual rotating assembly as a whole with the crank, flywheel, piston, rods, etc. Just for clarification.

Roger that.

The Duratec, much like the Mazda KL Series motor is internally balanced, and will not perform worth anything if not properly balanced after the install of any afternarket internal parts, such as pistons, rods, etc.

Most machine shops will be able to re-balance your rotating assembly, and those who have their blocks rebuilt by a machine shop should already know to do this, but reminding them wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Something else to note as pointed out to me by a reliable source i.e. Terry Haines is that the rod length for 3.0 and 2.5 are slightly different. Not by much, but enough to mess with valve clearance and compression ratio calculations.

"the 2.5 rod distance between
centers is 138.049 >138.151 MM and the 3.0 is 138.176"
