I have to lay out a page at work regarding gun legislation. I'm putting a photo on the page of a young girl shooting an AR-15, and I need to know the differences - if any - between the AR15 and the M16. Please help!

AR-15 is the semi-auto version of the M-16. Im sure there are other differences, but AFAIK thats the biggest one.

M-16 has burst differnet railing systems (though they vary and can be purchased for the AR-15) also there is a place for a blade on the front of the M16... im trying to think if there are others but no off hand, now the M4 is a different beast in a few other ways... if you want to go modern get a shortand barrel a collapsable but stock etc...

Haha big differences...M16 is illegal like all other automatic weapons (unless you have a class III firearms license); the AR-15 isn't. Now you take that same AR-15 and put a bayonet mount on it, and it magically becomes an "assault weapon". Thank God they let that stupid ban expire.

M16 - Flash Suppressor
Bayonet Mount
Selector Switch Burst/Semi

Post AW-Ban AR 15 has none of the above.

Your best adivce is to look at what was covered by the AW ban. Basically these items banned make up the difference between all Military/Civilian weapons.
