OK, my new SVT needs a tune-up; it's an E0 with the (gasp!) original spark plug wires, old spark plugs, old fuel and oil filter, etc.

I have obtained a good fuel and oil filter, and that will help I'm sure.

I bought 6 Bosch Platinum Quad-Fire spark plugs, and 8mm spark plugs wires from AutoZone.

I really hope I get a decent performance boost outta this, or at least some smoother idling.

if those plugs are the same as the bosch platinum 4's, return them and get autolite double plats.

if i'm not mistaken people have had issues with the bosch plugs on our cars.

You REALLY should have read the sticky threads, the How-To, ANY post about plugs, et cetera.

Return the POS Bosch plugs immediately.

Get Autolite APP764's instead and pocket the difference.
Don't forget to use antiseize and make sure to use a real (i.e. feeler gauge) gap gauge.

You should notice a big difference with new plugs & wires.

Should probably get a PCV valve too. What else?

Get the Motorcraft PCV valve. Don't use the aftermarket ones....

Today I'm on my way to AutoZone, last night they said I could swap out the Bosch spark plugs for the Autolite ones. Cool!

So you think I'll notice a difference after replacing the original factory wires and old spark plugs after 100,000 miles of use? LOL, I hope so!

A PCV valve...? What is that? Is it related to the IMRC? My intake manifold runner control valve thingamabobber is stuck open, apparently...

Makes it chug at lower RPMs.

Might want to pick up a Chilton's or Haynes manual next time you're at the auto parts store. It does a fairly good job of explaining the basic maintenance stuff.

I noticed a big differerence when I replaced my plugs & wires at 80,000.

This is one explaination of the PCV valve: "Part of the positive crankcase ventilation system, which reroutes crankcase blow-by to the intake manifold and back to the engine, where it's reburned in the cylinders as part of the fuel/air mixture. This cuts emission pollution and increases fuel economy because unburned fuel in the blow-by is consumed the second time around. It also keeps the blow-by and water vapor from fouling the oil in the crankcase, thus reducing the formation of engine sludge."

Nice nice, very nice.

OK, went o AutoZone on lunch break and snagged some AutoLite APP764 plugs, and got like $12 back. Cool!

I don't think they come pre-gapped, do they? The guy at the counter dais they prolly wouldn't be pre-gapped. What should the gapping distance be for the plugs?
