Mine lasted 86k miles BONE STOCK to the paper air filter (certainly much less than designed for), no racing, regular oil changes etc. Died from bottom end knock. I'm now convinced that crank whip killed it.
How much hp does the UDP net you anyway? Oh, and if the engine goes, it WON'T be in a ball of flame, but it will still be dead.
Why don't you just remove the air filter? It won't kill your engine immediately but it will eventually. In the meantime you'll have more power.
