Mercury Adds New Milan,
2006 Mercury Milan. Photo: Bruce Whitaker

Mercury enters a new segment with the 2006 Milan, a stylish yet affordable midsize sedan.
Mercury often chooses the Chicago Auto Show to display its latest products, and this year was no exception. Heralding Mercury's return to the 5-passenger midsize sedan market, the brand debuted the 2006 Mercury Milan. The new Milan features a sporty yet refined exterior styling and an upscale interior designed to appeal to a younger audience.

While the new Milan shares a platform with the Ford Fusion and Lincoln Zephyr, it features a unique exterior design that includes signature Mercury design cues such as the waterfall grille and satin aluminum trim. Up front, the Milan features wide headlights that wrap up over the fenders, while at the rear LED taillights are set high to accentuate the rear profile, where satin-aluminum trim can also be found.

The interior offers rich materials such as leather seats, satin metallic trim, or Wales Mahogany trim. Two-tone leather seating surfaces are available, with contrasting stitching.

Milan will be offered with two different powertrains: a 210-horsepower Duratec 30 3.0-liter V6 with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 160-horsepower Duratec 23 2.3-liter 4-cylinder with a standard 5-speed manual or optional 5-speed automatic.

Mercury Mountaineer Gets Redesigned, Upgraded
The Mercury Mountaineer receives updated exterior and interior styling, a new V8 engine, suspension upgrades, and new safety features for the 2006 model year.

The exterior styling accentuates the waterfall grille and adds satin aluminum trim. New powered running boards tuck up into the rocker panels when not in use for a clean look, and drop to a useful position when people enter the vehicle. At the rear, the Mountaineer receives clear taillight lenses, a new liftgate and satin aluminum trim.

The interior has been upgraded to add style and functionality. New seats are designed to be more comfortable and offer three different second-row configurations.

A 292-horsepower V8 engine is offered; it has 300 lb-ft of torque and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2006 Mountaineer receives a stronger frame, all-new independent rear suspension, revised front suspension, bigger brakes, and an improved steering system.

The pics are all over www.mercuryvehicles.com. Just look in the autoshow section. I personally like the way the car looks, better lines than the 500 and Montego.
